Dove Fund recently received a grant from The Exchange Club of Charleston in support of our efforts to help low-income families stay in their homes. The Exchange Club gave $3,000.00 to the Eviction Prevention Program, and every penny is being used to help keep a roof over the heads of those who are struggling to pay their bills. Below is a testimonial from one of our clients who was saved from eviction this month.

Lord, how am I going to pay the rent?
She writes:
I thank God for guiding me to The Dove Fund’s ministry during a time when I truly needed support. I was in between careers and facing financial hardship, unsure of how I would cover my rent. The Dove Fund stepped in and provided not only the assistance I needed, but also a sense of hope and reassurance.
Their support went far beyond financial help. They offered guidance with my job search and had the kind of honest, encouraging conversations I had been having silently with myself. Hearing those words spoken with compassion and clarity made a real difference.
The Dove Fund is more than a resource, it’s a community that uplifts and empowers. If you’re in need, I wholeheartedly encourage you to reach out. And if you’re in a position to give, please consider pouring into this incredible ministry that gives so much to others.

We believe that America is the greatest country in the world and that opportunity for upward mobility is available to anyone who works hard, practices financial discipline, and obeys the law. Preventing an eviction avoids a total family disaster. Children can continue to go to school, to have a safe place to sleep, and to develop without the trauma of homelessness. The average cost of stopping an eviction is a fraction of what it takes to get a homeless family back into affordable housing, with furniture and household goods. And of course it takes months or even years for families to find decent, available housing.
To prevent this suffering, Dove Fund plans to work with 12 families during our pilot project's year, to help keep them in their apartment/rental. All applicants must be referred to us via one of our trusted partners, such as The Navigation Center, Catholic Charities, Trident United Way Safety Net program, or St. Vincent de Paul. The selected families must be working to help support the household, including any teens or young adults. Contracts with specific requirements, including completing financial and budgeting coursework, are required. Priority will be given to veterans and families with children or disabled/elderly dependents.
Note: this partnership requires an investment of time and discipline. Dove Fund does not offer 24/7 help or quick crisis resolution. If you recognize that you may be headed for an eviction, contact The Navigation Center or one of our other partners about how to apply for our program.
Dove Fund will also partner with Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services to create an evening seminar on tenant's rights and eviction law. More details to come on the time, place, and date. Remember, the more you know, the more you can protect yourself and your family.

We are all connected to one another by Divine Love, and we trust that the forces of Heaven are fighting for the highest good.
